AIM FOR PERFECTION II Cor 13:11 January 2008 Our message is simple - Life Isn’t Fair. You have to work through or overcome the odds that will come against you. You can change the outcome of your life if you make a stand – refuse to give up “Hope”. Everyday begin seeing yourself in a new way. Start saying to yourself, “God CAN do the impossible.” Even though life may not be working for me right now, I will find a new way of seeing. It’s a new year with numerous choices ahead. Don’t give up the “power” you have to make good choices. Some of you have had to make “tough” heart wrenching choices this past year. How have they affected you or left you feeling? We know that we may loose some battles, don’t worry, we’ll eventually win the war!! It doesn’t matter how old you are, what you’ve gone through, or how many battles you feel like you’ve lost, it’s never to late to “choose” to fight to win the war. It’s never to late to start over, just begin anew, because the year has just begun - what a thought! This past year has been filled with challenges for the three of us individually and ministry wise. We’ve fought a few battles, but, here we are saying to you – we are going to win the war! We’re looking forward to you joining us in the year to come. Soldiers stay close together in battle….it keeps the “enemy” from crossing the line. We plan on moving forward and are anticipating what the Lord has for us to do! We don’t want to be idle, we want to be about our fathers business!
April Fools Day We can rejoice in knowing that to the world “We are called fools for Christ’s sake” I Cor. 4:10 The cross is foolishness to those who do not believe; it is salvation, hope, love, and joy to those of us who do believe. It is a joke on satan – the greatest fool of all. Really we are all fools, the choice is for whom we play the fool – for the world or for Christ?
TSK - TSK! Are any of you victims of the Tsk, Tsk-er’s? You know, people who roll their eyes at something you do or say that’s “out of the ordinary” or not in the “how to be spiritual book – they wrote”? Maybe they didn’t audibly make a Tsk sound with their tongue; they just pointed their finger or gave you a “look of dissatisfaction”. You know what “look” I mean – to put you “in your place”. And that’s where you’ve stayed for years trying and trying to please everyone around you instead of above you. You can spend a lot of years thinking you have to change your whole “persona” in order to make God happy with you. You probably think he couldn’t possibly want a wacky, offbeat, peculiar person like you representing Him. But, surprise! He does!! And another surprise, half the people we meet are every bit as wacky and offbeat as we are. And He is using them too! Don’t wait until you are in your 70’s or 80’s to give yourself permission to be who God made you to be. God will use anyone who is willing and He will give the ability, confidence and purpose you will need at just the right time. All He requires is for us to be in His will just like Jesus did when He lived here.
LAUGH “These things I have spoken to you that My joy may be in you, and your joy may be full.” John 15:11 Each day decide to be happy, look for the “little” joys and do something good for somebody. Wear a big smile all over your face! Then ask God to give you a joyful heart and a “Holy” Humor Day. Live today with the happiness of a child. Don’t look at the past with regret or your future with fear. It can take away your joy and strain your faith, look around you for happiness instead of sadness. Once you find it, no matter how painful the trial you go through, you CAN and will survive – so laugh.
GOBBLE GOBBLE Don’t let the devil and the world “Gobble” up your joy or let others pluck your last “feather”. You have to stick your neck out for the Lord – even if you feel like you may loose it. Just keep “stuffing” yourself with the Word. There will always be those who will “pick” at you till they think they have gotten you down to the bone - they then go to someone else. In the end, it’s not how fast you run but, how you maneuver to avoid getting “cut off” from God. Do you ever feel like your daily journey is a little “well, you know” full! Do you feel like you’ve been stuffed by the world then carved apart piece by piece? Fear not, God loves us ol’ birds!
YOU ARE NOT ALONE Do you have thoughts of loneliness at times?? Like …. No one knows me, People know my face – not how I feel. People know my name – not my heart. People needed me at one time – do they now?? Jesus loves us too much to leave us alone. He didn’t say, I’ll be with you if you are good, if you behave, or if I have time. He said, “I am WITH you always - to the very end.” That’s a promise…do you believe it??
OUR GOOD DEEDS ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE IN HEAVEN We are special to God. He lives where there are hurting people. He wants us to humble ourselves to where they are, see the need and help them. When we take someone into our hearts and actually meet their needs, God records that in His book of remembrance. He wants our “FRUIT” of personal concern, personal love and help. When our heart hurts with them when we see them hurting, that is when we really care. Jesus always moves in the area of our human needs. Read in Matt. 25:40; In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these, “YOU” have done it unto me!!!!! Those are the deeds He talks about writing in the book of remembrance in heaven. Our lives should be a witness of what Jesus is really like. We’ll be doing what He did when He walked the earth. Showing kindness to others by helping them feel their self -worth, when they’ve been beaten down and are depressed, when we see their self-esteem has been crushed by someone “LIFT THEM UP” We get our thinking so confused sometimes. It’s not what we do in a “Spiritual” way only that pleases God. When I minister, it’s hard sometimes to relate to a persons spirit, but it’s not hard to relate to a physical need or their emotions - I can SEE them. Jesus always ministered to both their physical and spiritual needs, so should we. I wish I had known years ago how much God cares and loves us. We need to grasp the FRUIT of the spirit in Gal 5:22. If you have time find it and read it for yourself. I think I would have grown closer to him through my tough times had I known more of the word. He’s healing me and I’m learning that His goodness will shield me, His wonderful light will guide me and His glory will protect me from behind. AWSOME!!!!!!! When I call out to Him He’ll answer just as quickly, “ I AM HERE”! I’m learning He loves me just as I am ---------- I AM COMFORTED -------- I SMILE.
